tuki. - 人生讚歌 / Song of Life Practice Notes

Today I’m sharing practice notes for 【tuki.】 人生讚歌 / Song of Life
. First thing to say—
“This song is tough!!!” (sweat)
Before tackling the song I always warm up first.
The song is at BPM 85, so I set my warm-up between BPM 75–95 and started with sixteenth-note patterns.
“If your sixteenths are solid, drumming gets easier XD”

Before playing with the track, I break the song into sections and master each one so I don’t panic and mess up when playing along. @@
The Intro rhythm is pretty friendly — wish the whole song was like this (lol)

Next is the chorus. This part is fairly approachable: play it multiple times and smooth out your sticking.

Pay special attention to the first fill where sixteenth-note to eighth-note shifts occur; it’s easy to rush it.

Then I gradually worked toward section C, which I think is one of the song’s hardest parts =口=
I spent a lot of time repeating it; after many takes it slowly became smoother. (sweat)

Practice this passage by splitting it into a 2-bar loop first.

Once that’s clean, extend the loop to 4 bars.

Keep at it — then you’ve only got the last 2 bars left!

For the final two bars

If you’re not comfortable with the earlier sextuplets and eighth-note groups, practice them separately.
For sextuplets you can start by playing them as eighth notes: R L
Then switch to sextuplets: R L R L R L
Start slow and lock down your sticking.

The eighth-note sticking is:
R R|R L R L|R L R L
If the flat stroke feels awkward, try adding an accent where indicated to drive the following three notes — accents help the group feel cohesive.

I then worked up to bars 70–71, which I consider the song’s “final boss.” (sweat)
This passage is really hard to lock in; I spent a lot of time repeating it XD

After getting past the big boss, there’s immediately a “mini-boss” fill @@

There are a few more small fills to watch out for.

Finish by practicing the outro, and you’re done!

Overall, the song’s main challenges are the heavy use of sextuplets, eighth-note groups, and the sextuplet-to-eighth transitions in the final-boss section.
Those parts require time to dissect and repeat slowly before they become stable and fluid.
I hope these practice notes help — good luck getting this one under your belt! 🥁
