tuki. - 人生讚歌 / Song of Life Practice Notes
Before playing along, I break the song into sections and master each one so I don’t panic and mess up when playing with the track. @@
The Intro’s groove is pretty friendly — if the whole song were like that, I’d be happy (laugh).
The first fill requires attention: watch the shift from 16ths to 8ths — it’s easy to rush it.
Then I slowly work toward section C, which I think is one of the toughest bridges in the song =口=
I spent a lot of time repeating it; after many reps it gradually became smoother. (sweat)
Practice this part by breaking it into a 2-bar loop first.
After the 2-bar loops feel solid, extend the range to 4 bars.
One more push — just the last 2 bars to go!
For the final two bars
If the sextuplets and octuplets aren’t familiar yet, practice them separately first.
Practice sextuplets by starting with eighth-note sticking: R L
Then switch to sextuplets: R L R L R L
Start slow and build the sticking until it’s comfortable.
The octuplet sticking is:
R R|R L R L|R L R L
If the flat pattern feels awkward, try adding accents where indicated below to drive the following three notes — it helps lock the group in.
Then I slowly worked toward bars 70–71 — to me this is the song’s “boss” section! (sweat)
This passage is hard to hit precisely; I spent a lot of time repeating it XD
After finally clearing the boss section, another “mini-boss” fill shows up @@
There are a few more small fills to watch out for.
Finish the outro and you’re done!
Overall, the biggest challenges are the heavy use of sextuplets and octuplets and the “sextuplet-to-octuplet” transitions in the boss section.
Those parts need to be broken down and drilled slowly and repeatedly to become stable and smooth.
Hope this practice note helps — good luck getting this one under your belt! 🥁
